1992 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Tour Glide
The Evolution-era touring Harleys are having a moment, and this 1992 FLTCU Ultra Classic Tour Glide is one of the better examples you will see come up for auction. Purchased new from Morgan and Wacker Harley-Davidson in Brisbane and ridden up to Townsville where it lived with the same owner until 2022, this is a genuine one-owner bike that was kept registered and properly looked after for three decades.
The 1340cc Evolution V-twin was a game changer when it arrived in 1984, turning around Harley's reputation for reliability after the rocky AMF years. By 1992 the Evo had proven itself, and the Ultra Classic Tour Glide, with its distinctive frame-mounted dual-headlight fairing, was the flagship of the range. You got AM/FM cassette stereo, CB radio with antenna, intercom system, Tour-Pak top box, matching colour-matched saddlebags, crash bars, floorboards front and rear, and passenger backrest with integrated speakers. This was Harley's answer to a luxury long-distance tourer and it covers that brief convincingly.
At 87,328 km it has been ridden but certainly not thrashed, and with the owner reportedly keeping it on very light duty over the years, the bike presents well. Paint is deep Phase Blue metallic with red and gold pinstriping, no visible chips or scratches on any panel. Chrome on the engine, exhaust, crash bars, and luggage hardware is all in solid shape. The fork sliders show surface oxidation and some dulling from age, and the seats have the wrinkles and compression you would expect from 30-plus years, but nothing torn or broken. The tank-mounted electronics console with radio and controls is present. Two THH helmets, a sheepskin seat cover, rider backrest, books, and toolkit are all included and confirmed in the photos.
A complete, fully optioned, single-owner Evolution touring Harley with a documented Queensland history. These are becoming increasingly collectable as the Evo era hits genuine classic status, and they are getting harder to find in this complete a state.
