Condition: Good Alyson Stoneman (Nee Hunter) Is A New Zealand Born Artist. After Attending University In Auckland, She Relocated To London To Study Further At Chelsea College Of Art And The Royal College Of Art. With Her Former Husband Hugh Stoneman, She Was A Director Of Islington Studios And Islington Graphics Gallery. Stoneman Is A Foremost Expert At A Specialised Photo Etching Technique Which Combines Both Etching And Photography In The Same Image. The Effect Is Uncanny - As Precise As A Photograph, Yet Strangely Distanced And Otherworldly. Many Of Her Works Featuring This Technique, Of Which 'Sydney Bridge' Is An Example, Depict Architecture. It Is As Though Stoneman Is At Once Memorialising And Subverting The City Around Her, Calling Forth Its Political Undertones. Across Her Fruitful Career, Stoneman Has Been A Master Printer At The New York Printmaking Workshop And A Visiting Professor At The University Of Davis, California. Her Work Is Held In Numerous Public Collections Across The Uk, Us, Australia, New Zealand And Canada, Including At The Museum Of London, The Gallery Of New South Wales, Philadelphia Museum And London'S National Portrait Gallery.
