N. S. Bendre (1910–1992) was one of India’s most celebrated modern artists and a founding member of the Baroda Group of Artists. Born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, he played a significant role in shaping Indian art education as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda. Throughout his career, Bendre developed a distinctive style, blending modernist influences with Indian themes and becoming particularly known for his vibrant pointillist technique.
