1970 Suzuki T500 Titan
Here is a genuine, numbers-matching 1970 Suzuki T500 Titan that has never been touched up, restored or disguised. The Titan was one of the most significant motorcycles Suzuki ever built. In an era when big-bore two-strokes had a reputation for being temperamental and fragile, the T500 was the exception. It went around the world on long tours, it won endurance races, and it earned a rock-solid reputation as the dependable workhorse of the Japanese two-stroke scene. Today the T500 is one of the most collectible of all Japanese classics, and finding one in this honest, survivor condition is genuinely rare.
This example is finished in the correct original olive-green metallic with the distinctive cream and gold tank stripe. The paint is what it is after 55 years on the planet: the tank body retains reasonable gloss and the colour is rich and correct, but the stripe has chips and flaking consistent with its age and unrestored status. This is patina you earn, not patina someone faked with a wire brush. The chrome tells the same story: surface pitting on the headlight bucket, turn signals and instrument bezels, while the exhaust pipes and wheel rims have held up better than you would expect.
The 500cc parallel-twin two-stroke engine is complete, correct and unmolested. Original Mikuni carburettors are fitted. The cylinder fins show the honest grime of a bike that has been ridden and not sanitised for a photo shoot. VIN and engine number T500-29848 are visible and matching. The odometer reads 12,287 miles which appears genuine given the overall presentation. New tyres have been fitted. The original exhaust system is present. The vendor has included the original tool kit, which on these bikes is a nice bonus for any new owner.
This is not a bike for someone who wants a trailer queen. It is a bike for someone who appreciates honest, original condition and understands that an unrestored Titan with matching numbers is the one to buy, not the freshly repainted one.
