Description
This is an exceptional limited edition decorative plate from Wedgwood's prestigious 'The Village Green' collection, depicting scenes of village life at the turn of the century. 'The Cricket Match' is the second issue in this highly regarded series and features a charming hand-painted scene of a cricket match in progress on a village green, framed by mature trees and traditional English cottages with thatched roofs.

The artwork captures a quintessential English summer scene with players in white cricket attire positioned across the manicured lawn, whilst spectators observe from a wooden bench in the foreground. The composition is bordered by delicate foliage and period architecture, rendered in soft watercolour tones characteristic of Petula Stone's distinctive artistic style.

Condition Notes
Plate remains in pristine, unused condition. Original protective backing and display stand included. No chips, cracks, crazing or discolouration observed. The hand-painted decoration is vibrant and shows no fading. Reverse bears the official Wedgwood backstamp, artist signature, plate number 5051/5, and complete certification details including BRADEX number 26-W90-41.2.
