The fallboard area above the keyboard displays gold lettering reading "MONARCH", "CHICAGO", "EXPORTED BY", "The Baldwin Piano Company", with visible crazing in the lacquer finish surrounding the text. The lower front panel beneath the keyboard is open, exposing the internal pneumatic bellows and linkage mechanism. Scratches and marks are visible on the front panel edges and leg surfaces. The top surface shows wear and surface marks.The rear of the piano shows unfinished timber with vertical slat construction. The internal action is visible with the top lid open, showing hammers, tuning pins, dampers and the pneumatic player mechanism. Cobwebbing is visible around some of the tuning pins in the upper section. The keyboard keys appear intact across the full range.The pianola roll mechanism has a perforated paper roll loaded on red-ended spools. A brass tempo control plate with "RITARD" and "ACCEL" markings and a sliding lever is visible beneath the roll window.This is a heavy item.
