The VL Executive Wagon
The VL Commodore was produced from 1986 to 1988 and represented a significant engineering step forward for Holden, adopting the Nissan-sourced RB30E 3.0-litre fuel-injected inline six-cylinder engine. The wagon body style was produced in relatively limited numbers and has become increasingly collectible as survivors dwindle. This example, finished in Venetian Red (paint code 1F 075-D) with a cream interior (trim 65I), is a May 1988 build as confirmed by the firewall plate. Engine code LF1, automatic transmission VL4.
The exterior presents in honest condition for its age. Venetian Red paint holds good gloss across the bonnet, doors, and wagon body, with the dark grey lower body trim and chrome highlights all intact. Panel alignment is straight and even, with no evidence of significant accident repair. The rear carries Commodore Executive badges and a factory-fitted tow bar. Headlights show age-related yellowing, typical of this era of clear-lens headlamp. Overall the body reads as well-preserved original.
The interior is the standout of this car. The cream cloth trim across all seats, the full-length door trims, the dashboard, and the cargo area are in a condition that suggests very light use.
