During the “golden era of JDM”, in 1991, Honda introduced the world's smallest mid-engined roadster, the Honda Beat. Measuring just 3.3 meters in length and powered by a 660 cc engine, it fell in the Japanese Kei-car category. Due to it’s mid engine, well balanced weight and superb handling it earned the nickname ”mini-NSX”. As first member of the “holy trinity of Kei”, and the very last car to be personally approved by Soichiro Honda before his passing later that year, the Honda Beat has matured gracefully and earned the cult status as sporty and fun to drive roadster.
Designed by Pininfarina and young team of engineers, the Beat was an instant success. Despite of its size, the cockpit was pretty roomy. The compact powertrain behind the seats, MacPerson strut suspension at all wheels and a total weight of only 760 Kg made the Honda Beat extremely well handled and fun to drive.
This Beat up for auction is a very well-preserved example. Mostly original, fitted with authentic Mugen body kit and performance parts and complete with full-service history and import documentation. Even a Japanese aftermarket hardtop and several spare parts and upgrades (not fitted) are included.
Becoming extremely hard to find, even in Japan, in such complete and good condition, this is a unique opportunity to purchase this iconic Kei car.
Aircon has no gas due to import regulations and has not been re-gassed since imported in 2021.
Bigger front brakes & calipers and braded brake lines all around fitted in March 2021 to meet Australian Standards for import of JDM vehicle.
December 2023 bumpers bonnet and front window frame resprayed due to aging and peeling clear coat, new front window fitted.
