1963 Ford Falcon Squire Wagon
The Ford Falcon Squire was the premium wagon in Ford’s 1963 line-up, instantly recognisable by its simulated wood panelling along the sides and rear. Designed to add an air of sophistication, the “woody” style quickly became an enduring favourite, especially in surf culture where it remains iconic to this day.
This example presents as a largely unrestored but well-preserved wagon. Finished in blue, it retains its original charm with only minor paint chips adding character. The wood panelling is in great condition for its age, while period accessories such as the front sun visor and roof rack give it added practicality and appeal.
Inside, the cabin is mostly original and offers bench seating front and rear, capable of seating up to six passengers. Features include a wood-rimmed steering wheel and under-dash air conditioning. Power comes from the original-style 170ci inline-six, paired with a column-shift automatic transmission, giving it smooth and relaxed cruising ability. Currently on full NSW registration, it will be sold unregistered with VIA paperwork supplied.
Woody wagons like the Falcon Squire became deeply embedded in surf culture throughout the 1960s, symbolising freedom, adventure and coastal lifestyle. Frequently seen hauling surfboards to the beach, they remain some of the most recognisable “surf wagons” ever built. Their appearances in period advertising, movies and car shows have cemented their reputation as fun, family-friendly cruisers that carry a sense of nostalgia wherever they go.
