1978 Holden HZ Automatic 8-Seat Limousine A rare and unusual extended-wheelbase limousine conversion based on the Holden HZ platform, showing an indicated 65,427 miles and finished in White. Powered by a 4.9-litre V8 petrol engine paired with an automatic transmission. Built originally as an L31 V8 automatic Kingswood sedan, this Holden was transformed in the 1980s into a bespoke limousine known as the “Glammer”, offering a unique piece of Australian coach-built automotive history. Holden HZ Limousine Model History During the 1980s, a small number of Australian workshops specialised in converting locally-built sedans into stretched limousines to meet growing demand from hospitality and event industries. Among them was Geoff Heard of Creative Cars in Adelaide, operating between 1980 and 1989, producing custom stretch conversions based on Holden and Ford platforms. These vehicles were typically hand-built with extended chassis, reinforced structure and bespoke interiors — often used for weddings, special occasions and corporate hire. Surviving examples are scarce today, making them niche collectibles with strong period nostalgia.
