Description:

1973 Triumph Trident T150V

Very few bikes can lay claim to being a genuine piece of British motorcycle racing history, but the Triumph Trident is absolutely one of them. The T150 triple dominated production racing in the early 1970s, including a famous one-two-three finish at the 1971 Isle of Man Production TT, and the street versions carried all of that three-cylinder character into something you could actually ride every day. The T150V here is the desirable 5-speed variant, the most refined of the series, and someone has done a proper job turning it into a cafe racer.

The modifications are well-executed and show real knowledge of what works. The bikini fairing keeps the lines clean and houses the original Smiths tachometer and speedometer, with an added oil pressure gauge in a tidy three-instrument cluster. Billet alloy triple clamps replace the originals. The front end has been upgraded with Lockheed brake calipers and a drilled disc rotor for improved stopping power. The seat is a neat single cafe hump in good-condition black vinyl. A chrome 3-into-2 exhaust with megaphone silencers finishes the rear end properly. The Union Jack stickers on the fairing and the 'TRIDENT' side panels with 'Ton' marking leave you in no doubt what this machine is about.

The metallic blue tank paint is a standout, deep and glossy with the chrome Triumph badge sitting cleanly on it. The polished primary and timing covers are near mirror-finish. All three Amal Concentric carbs are present and correct. The rear tyre appears to be a modern replacement with good tread. The Smiths gauges show approximately 17,000 miles, which is reasonable for a well-maintained triple that has seen some actual use.

This is a proper, thoughtfully built example of one of Britain's most revered classics. Not a trailer queen, not a rough project, but a purposeful cafe machine that is ready to ride or show.
