1986 Yamaha V-Max 1200

An iconic muscle bike from the 1980s, this 1986 Yamaha V-Max 1200 is finished in Red and shows an indicated 34,066 kilometres. Famous for its aggressive styling and explosive acceleration, the V-Max quickly became one of the most legendary performance motorcycles of its era.



Powered by Yamaha’s formidable 1200cc V4 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and shaft drive, the V-Max was engineered to deliver immense straight-line performance. Known for its powerful torque and distinctive engine character, it earned a reputation as one of the fastest production motorcycles available during the 1980s.



Yamaha V-Max Model History

Introduced in 1985, the Yamaha V-Max was designed to redefine the concept of a muscle motorcycle. Featuring the innovative V-Boost induction system and a high-performance V4 engine, the V-Max produced remarkable acceleration that quickly made it a cult favourite among riders worldwide. Its bold styling, drag-strip performance and unique character allowed it to remain largely unchanged in production for over two decades, cementing its place as one of Yamaha’s most iconic motorcycles.



Description / Extras

Vendor advises the motorcycle runs well and features the powerful 1200cc V4 engine that the V-Max is renowned for. Recent work includes carburettor servicing and the fitment of a new battery, with the electrical systems reportedly functioning correctly. The bike has also been fitted with an upgraded exhaust system and remains mostly original overall.



The vendor notes that the air intake gauze and radiator cover are currently missing.
