Description / Overview:
The XR Falcon ute is a genuine piece of Australian automotive history and this one presents as a tidy, honest, modified example with good visual appeal. The red respray looks sharp and the 289 V8 with finned alloy "Powered by Ford" rocker covers, 4-barrel carburetor, alloy intake manifold, and dual electric thermo fans looks purposeful in the colour-coded engine bay. The auto conversion with B&M shifter and an aftermarket Stewart Warner tachometer complete the mild custom theme without going too far over the top.
Cosmetically the car presents well above the belt. Panels are straight, paint is glossy, and the polished centreline-style alloys suit the presentation well. The tray has been freshly painted in grey and is solid throughout, with a new Slikfit tonneau cover recently fitted (invoice included, $850). Under the tray shows honest age-related surface corrosion on crossmembers, nothing structural from what is visible. The Optima Red Top has been neatly relocated to a fabricated battery tray beneath the bed. A bonus collection of new parts comes with the car including a Proflow distributor, US Motor Works water pump, and Icon Series electrical connector kit. Genuine XR Falcon 500 glovebox badging and factory AM radio are retained in a clean black interior.
Current bid at $9,300 is in fair market territory for an unrestored modified XR ute at this level of presentation. A solid entry-level classic with room to improve.
