The LH Torana is one of Australia's great muscle car bodies, and this one arrives with a reconditioned 308 V8 under the bonnet and an interior that shows SLR/R 5000 specification trim throughout, including the tachometer, SR5000-pattern door cards, boot spoiler, and aftermarket bonnet scoop. Whether this is a genuine factory SLR 5000 or a period V8 conversion into a well-optioned body is a question that should be answered at inspection by checking the trim/compliance plate codes and the engine number stamp. Either way, it has the right shell, the right engine, and the right bones to be a rewarding project.
The car is non-running. Extensive fuel system work has been carried out per the vendor, including a rebuilt carburettor, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, cleaned tank, and cooling system update. Something is preventing it from starting and that needs to be identified. The body needs a full respray, the sills and door jambs show significant surface corrosion that will require professional rectification, and several panels carry minor dents and dings.
