1978 Holden HZ 4.9-litre V8 petrol, Trimatic 3-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive, 6-door extended-wheelbase limousine conversion finished in White. Odometer indicating 65,427 miles. Description / Overview:
This is a genuine piece of Australian coach-built history. During the 1980s, a small number of specialised workshops stretched Holden and Ford platforms into bespoke limousines for the wedding and hospitality industries. This example, known as the Glammer, is one of those surviving conversions, built on what was originally an HZ Statesman platform and stretched into a six-door limousine with seating for eight. Rare in 1980, rarer still today.
The vehicle is presented as a restoration or promotional project. The vendor has disclosed that only reverse gear is currently engaging, the battery requires replacement, and rust is evident in several areas. This is not a turn-key driver, and inspection is strongly recommended before bidding. The conversion attribution to Geoff Heard of Creative Cars in Adelaide (operating 1980-1989) gives it a traceable provenance for anyone researching Australian coach-built history.
The white exterior shows heavy oxidation throughout. Rust is active along the door lower edges, sill panels, and rear quarter panels, with rust-through visible on the rear door upper channels. The headliner sags and the carpet needs replacement. That said, the door trims are intact, the engine bay turns over a V8 (currently appears to be a 308), and the perspex partition between front and rear is still in place. This is a project for the right enthusiast, a promoter, or a restorer with a clear vision.
