This is a genuine late-run 1978 XC Falcon 500 Sedan, built on the 5th of October 1978 and finished in Emerald Green with chamois vinyl interior. One of the final XC Falcons to roll out of Broadmeadows before the XD took over, and it comes with the paperwork to prove exactly what it is and where it has been.
The documentation package on this car is exceptional and well worth the trip alone. You get the original Southside Ford Brisbane dealer invoice dated 24 October 1978, the factory Ford build sheet, a Rust-Rid cavity protection certificate from new (No. 66723, October 1978), owner's manuals, the original Ford radio manual, and early Ipswich-area service records. That level of one-family provenance is genuinely rare for an XC Falcon in 2026 and adds real, tangible collector value. The factory build sheet also confirms a strong options list: GS Rally Pack (which accounts for the tachometer, sports steering wheel, and individual bucket seats with console), power steering, air conditioning, long-range fuel tank, tinted glass, and a Class II tow pack. The vinyl roof and rear venetian blind were dealer-fitted at delivery.
Under the bonnet sits a 351 Cleveland V8 (5.8 litre). the compliance plate records the original engine as a 250ci crossflow six, confirmed by the chassis prefix digit and build plate engine code T. The 351 Cleveland has been fitted post-production and is not disclosed in the original listing. It drives through a 3-speed Borg-Warner automatic. This is a common and popular upgrade on XC Falcons, but it should be known going in. The engine number recorded in this listing also duplicates the chassis number (JG23UB64720K), which is incorrect. Both cannot be the same. The actual engine number must be read from the 351 block and verified prior to bidding.
The car presents honestly at 285,893km. Paint is original survivor Emerald Green with good depth and gloss. The bonnet leading edge has stone chips with minor rust pitting developing and the left rear wheel arch lip shows some corrosion at the trailing edge, a known XC rust point. The driver's door does not sit perfectly flush. Interior is in very good condition, with a crack-free dash, chamois bucket seats showing no tears, all four door trims solid, carpet intact, and headlining sound with only minor discolouration. A clean, honest Australian survivor with outstanding documentation behind it.
