Description


This is not your average Patrol. Built from the chassis up as a Hummer H1 tribute using a Rhino Buggies body kit on a Nissan GQ SWB platform, this machine has been fully engineered and carries a Queensland blue plate dated December 2019. The Rhino Buggies conversion was a well-known Australian operation that produced fibreglass H1-replica body kits designed to bolt onto the GQ Patrol chassis, and examples in this condition with full engineering are becoming increasingly rare now that Rhino Buggies is no longer operating.


The build quality is impressive. The body was completed in 2016, with the full mechanical rebuild finished in 2019. Under the bonnet sits a near-new Chevrolet 350 small block V8 running a carbureted setup with chrome air cleaner, blue spark plug leads, and an aftermarket oil cooler. The chassis, gearbox, differentials, wiring loom, and brake callipers have all been rebuilt, sandblasted, and powder coated. The interior features a fully custom Rhino Buggies dashboard with VDO gauge cluster, Alpine touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay, reversing camera, Oricom UHF radio, custom centre console with illuminated cup holders, and aftermarket leather bucket seats. The exterior wears a glossy blue finish with black fender flares, a canvas soft-top over a blue roll cage, heavy-duty tubular front bull bar with electric winch and LED driving lights, and massive Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tyres on black steel wheels.


Genuine H1 Hummers are virtually unobtainable in Australia, and well-executed Rhino Buggies conversions with full engineering compliance have traded in the $30,000 to $60,000 range depending on build quality and specification. This one comes loaded with on-board air compressor, dual battery provision, new air conditioning, CB radio, and the all-important engineering paperwork. Vendor advises additional half-height doors are included.
