The Tommi Makinen Edition is the one that collectors are after. Mitsubishi built it as a homologation special to celebrate four consecutive WRC world championship titles for Tommi Makinen, and the TME came with factory Recaro seats, a close-ratio gearbox, a front strut tower brace, and a retuned engine as standard. Production numbers were limited, and properly complied Australian examples with matching documentation are increasingly hard to come by.
This one is wearing Passion Red (factory code R71J) and showing 123,031km on the clock. The original Mitsubishi factory plate and the Australian RAWS compliance plate are both present and photographed. The compliance plate from Brisbane Compliance Centre (Approval No. 1035702/007, complied February 2011) confirms the CP9A chassis and SNGF grade code, which is the TME specification. The firewall VIN stamp matches the compliance plate. The 6U9 VIN prefix is standard Australian RAWS compliance format, not a re-VIN. This car is legitimate.
Engine bay carries the factory 4G63 with the original airbox still in place, which is a genuine bonus at this age. Interior presents the full TME package: Recaro bucket seats with Tommi Makinen Edition headrest embroidery, the factory MOMO steering wheel, and the red factory rear chassis brace in the boot. The only aftermarket item visible is a boost gauge on the passenger-side A-pillar. Everything else is factory. Body is straight with no visible rust and no significant panel damage in the photo set.
