1922 Ford Model T Tudor Sedan - Black - I4 Petrol, 2-Speed Planetary Manual, Show-Quality Exterior Restoration, Comes with Matching Trailer
Price Guide: $18,000 - $28,000
1922 Ford Model T Tudor sedan, 177ci (2.9L) inline 4-cylinder flathead petrol, 2-speed planetary manual, restored in high-gloss black, wooden-spoke wheels, period upholstery, with custom-built matching black trailer, engine serial 5840896.
Description
The Ford Model T is the car that put the world on wheels. Over 15 million were built between 1908 and 1927, and the 1922 examples represent the model approaching its peak production years, just before the updated 1923 specification. The Tudor body style is a 2-door enclosed sedan, and this example carries a Ford Canada-built engine, confirmed by the "MADE IN CANADA" casting mark on the engine block and the engine serial number 5840896, which falls within the verified 1922 production range.
The exterior restoration is strong. The gloss black finish is deep and mirror-like across all body panels, fenders, and running boards, with no visible chips, dents, or rust in any of the photos. The wooden-spoke wheels are refinished and presentable, fitted with period-appropriate crosshatch-tread black tyres. The chrome and brightwork on the headlamps, radiator shell, Ford script badge, door hardware, and bumpers all show a high-polish finish consistent with quality show preparation. The iconic Moto-Meter (Boyce MotoMeter) radiator cap thermometer is fitted, a correct and desirable period accessory. The front axle, transverse leaf spring, and steering components are all cleanly presented underneath. The engine bay houses the original 177ci flathead four-cylinder with the trembler coil ignition system intact, the updraft-style carburetor in place, and the magneto assembly present. The engine shows the patina expected of a running original unit rather than a full concours re-build, which is the honest and appropriate presentation for a driver-quality restoration.
The interior presents in period-style striped cloth upholstery in tan and beige tones on both the front bench and rear seating. The steering wheel is correct bakelite, the three-pedal Model T planetary transmission floor layout is intact with the central hand brake lever in place, and the minimal dashboard carries the ammeter gauge and period hardware. The front seat bolster shows some wear and fraying at the upper edge, and the headliner shows age-related staining, both consistent with the overall driver-quality restoration scope. The dashboard and firewall are finished in high-gloss black. The matching custom-built black trailer is included in the sale, constructed with a period-style flatbed frame, black spoke wheels, and Ford-branded chrome mudflaps. A Ford Model T Service Manual and Snyder's Antique Auto Parts catalog are included.
Model T values in Australia have strengthened as the centenary of the model's production passes and genuine survivors become harder to source. Restored driving examples with matching trailers and supporting documentation represent a compelling entry into pre-war motoring. Comparable restored Model Ts in Australia have sold from AUD $18,000 to $35,000 depending on condition and completeness.
