Overview

The Oris Aquis Depth Gauge is one of the most genuinely innovative dive watches of the last decade. The depth gauge mechanism is elegantly analog: a borosilicate glass tube runs around the inner perimeter of the sapphire crystal, connected to a small opening that allows water pressure to compress air and push water up the tube in proportion to depth. The result is a real-time mechanical depth reading to 100 metres, requiring no battery, no electronics, and no separate instrument. The scale is graduated in yellow numerals with "ZERO" in red at 12 o'clock and "metres below surface" running around the crystal edge. It is a patented system (Swiss Patent No. CH707457) and it works. The overall dive rating is 500 metres (50 bar) via a screw-down crown, and the Oris Caliber 7675 automatic movement is solid and reliable. This example presents a complete original kit: the watch is housed in its rugged black hardshell waterproof Pelican-style presentation case (the same type a diver would use to transport instruments), which in turn comes in the outer Oris presentation box with red-lined interior. The kit also includes the original product manual supplement, warranty documentation, a black rubber strap with butterfly deployant clasp, an additional unworn bright yellow Oris rubber strap, and a strap-change tool.

Condition

The watch presents in good pre-owned condition. The black DLC case coating retains the majority of its finish across all surfaces with light wear and minor scuffs on the case flanks consistent with regular use; no deep scratches or significant coating loss. The matte black dial is in excellent condition with all text, markers, and the depth gauge scale clearly legible and intact. The borosilicate depth gauge tube around the crystal is clear and undamaged at surface conditions. The unidirectional rotating dive bezel retains sharp markings throughout. The black rubber strap is supple and functional; the deployant clasp shows moderate cosmetic wear on the PVD coating while remaining fully operational. The additional yellow strap appears unworn. The inner hardshell presentation case is in excellent condition and the outer presentation box shows minor storage wear.
