JDM MS112 Crown in the top-spec Royal Saloon trim, 2.8-litre EFI inline-six, column-shift automatic, deeply preserved tan velour cabin, full chrome trim and "Royal Saloon EFI" badging intact.
Description
In early 1980s Japan, the Toyota Crown was how you announced you had made it. The MS112-generation Crown Royal Saloon sat at the top of Toyota's domestic passenger car hierarchy, above the Cressida and well above the mass market, offering executive refinement in a package that competed with the best of what Europe could offer at the time. The 2.8-litre inline-six with electronic fuel injection was a sophisticated unit for the era, delivering smooth, refined power in a format that suited the car's character perfectly. The EFI specification is confirmed by the intact "EFI" badge on the rear quarter, a detail that is often missing on surviving examples and one that collectors specifically look for. This is a Royal Saloon in the truest sense.
The MS112 presents in striking red with a genuinely well-preserved tan velour interior. Photos across the 51-image gallery confirm the exterior paint holds good depth and gloss, the horizontal chrome grille bars are intact, the Crown emblem centre badge is in excellent condition, and the Royal Saloon script and EFI badges on the rear are both present and unblemished. The tan velour seat upholstery is remarkably intact for a car with 244,748km, the original cassette stereo and automatic climate control remain in place on the centre stack, and the woodgrain dashboard trim is original. The column-mounted 3-speed automatic shifter and bench front seating layout complete the full JDM luxury specification. Vendor advises the rear bumper has paint flaking and the rear passenger door inner lining has an issue. The engine bay is functional but carries the accumulated grime of four decades, and the rocker panel area on the lower body shows age-related surface rust consistent with a 40-year-old vehicle. Whitewall tyres and wire-style wheel covers complete the period-correct presentation.
Early 1980s Japanese luxury saloons in original condition have been finding a genuine collector audience. Comparable MS112 Crown examples in similar condition have traded between $8,000 and $14,000 in the Australian market, with the most original and best-presented examples holding the stronger end of that range. The red exterior with full chrome trim and intact Royal Saloon EFI badging makes this one of the more visually compelling survivors you will see.
