1977 Honda CB750P | ex-police motorcycle | 750cc air-cooled inline-four | five-speed manual | shaft drive | 53,736km | cream | original police specification

Description

The Honda CB750 is genuinely one of the most significant motorcycles ever built. When it arrived in 1969, it introduced the concept of the superbike, combining an inline-four engine, a front disc brake, and performance numbers that nothing else on the market could touch. It changed motorcycling and established Honda as a serious force in the global market. The CB750P police variant, built specifically for law enforcement duties, takes that foundation and layers on shaft drive, heavy-duty components, and full police equipment, making it a considerably rarer machine than the standard civilian CB750. Purpose-built police motorcycles from this era in original, unrestored condition are highly sought after by collectors worldwide, and genuine examples with full equipment intact are becoming increasingly scarce.

This 1977 CB750P presents as an honest, unrestored survivor with full police specification equipment intact throughout. The cream livery carries age-appropriate patina with minor paint chips and surface weathering consistent with a working machine approaching fifty years old. The Honda tank badge reads clearly and the original side covers and bodywork panels are all present. Police-specification hard saddlebags are fitted both sides, with the rear luggage rack, police handlebar configuration, dual auxiliary spotlights on the front forks, and police crash bars all retained, giving the machine its authentic law enforcement profile. The air-cooled 750cc inline-four engine is visually intact with original components, and an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, consistent with fleet monitoring equipment of the era, is fitted. Chrome on the fork legs, exhaust headers, and surrounds carries honest patina and light surface oxidation. The spoke wheels are intact, and the Western Australia registration plate is visible. The compliance plate confirms CB750P model and November 1977 manufacture, matching the listing. The engine number CB750E-2069856 is clearly stamped and legible. The seat vinyl shows a crack along the centre, consistent with age.

Ex-police CB750 motorcycles with intact original equipment regularly command strong collector premiums. Civilian CB750s of this era in comparable unrestored condition typically trade in the $8,000 to $14,000 range, and genuine police variants with full specification intact push well above that, with premium examples capable of reaching $15,000 to $22,000 or more depending on provenance documentation and mechanical state. This example carries current Western Australia registration until May 2027, which is a meaningful inclusion and simplifies the ownership transfer process for the buyer.
