Tower-like masses of interlocking curvilinear forms, arches, scrolls, serpentine ribbons, and building-like structures with pediments rise from the lower portion of the composition. The effect is more contemplative and jewel-like than the brighter white-ground works, with a compositional restraint that makes this piece the most formally sophisticated in the series.<br>
