One of the more conceptually interesting works in the series, this piece integrates a human face seen in profile into the right side of its architectural fantasy structure. Spiral staircases, arched portals, columns, scalloped architectural ornaments, and crumbling stonework fill the structure's interior, but the human profile creates a figurative reading that sits overtop the pure architectural experience, creating a productive ambiguity. Water droplet motifs at the lower right add a reflective, melancholy note. The cool grey and steel blue palette on textured paper gives the work a more sober character than the brighter pieces in the series. The distinctive stippled quality of the pencil strokes on the laid paper adds visual texture throughout.<br>
