Bessie Pitjara is an Anmatyerre / Alyawarre artist from the Utopia region of the Northern Territory. This tall, narrow-format canvas is covered in an all-over field of rounded dab marks in white and light blue over a navy ground, densely overlapping to suggest a field of bush plums or bush flowers in abundance. The circular marks are applied with consistent rhythm and confidence, the navy ground showing through the gaps to create depth. The verso is inscribed with the artist's name and the inventory reference ERT77129.<br>
