Description:

1950 Ford Prefect Four-Door Sedan - Sage Green - 19,867 Miles - Genuine Unrestored Survivor with Period History

A complete, original and unmodified post-war British saloon with low miles, period documentation and honest patina throughout.

About this Ford Prefect

The Ford Prefect E93A was the backbone of family motoring in post-war Britain and Australia. This 1950 four-door sedan is among the final examples of the original pre-war-derived design before Ford's new model range replaced it in the early 1950s. Vendor advises this car is 100% original and has been in their ownership since 2004. The odometer reads 19,867 miles, and with the car's overall presentation consistent with low-use careful storage rather than heavy service, the reading is credible. A comprehensive folder of period history and documentation is included, among it a genuine period Ford Prefect newspaper advertisement complete with the original headline: "You will be proud of having a Prefect in your family."

The 1172cc side-valve four-cylinder engine, numbered C540350, sits undisturbed in the original engine bay with the correct oil bath air cleaner, period horn and ancillaries all in place. A modern Century battery has been fitted. The engine is dusty but appears complete and unmolested. Power is transmitted through a three-speed manual gearbox with a characteristic column-mounted gear lever and ball-topped shift, working in conjunction with the standard live rear axle and leaf spring suspension.

The exterior presents in original sage green with the natural crazing and soft patina of 76-year-old lacquer. Panels are straight and gaps are consistent throughout. The chrome grille, "PREFECT" grille badge, Ford coat of arms badge, hood ornament/mascot, bumpers and trim all display the expected light oxidation of age. Original period-specification white wall tyres are fitted on the correct slotted steel rims. The interior retains the original brown leather bench seats front and rear with period pleated detailing, all four original tan leatherette door cards, the original bakelite-framed dashboard with Ford FSW clock and British-made speedometer, and the original steering wheel.
