1965 Plymouth Belvedere Sedan - Red - 74,900 Miles - 361ci V8, Push-Button TorqueFlite Automatic, 8 3/4 Mopar Diff - Patina Exterior, Immaculate Red Interior
Solid B-body Mopar with the 361ci big block, 8 3/4 diff, push-button TorqueFlite, and a survivor interior that presents beautifully.
Overview
The 1965 Plymouth Belvedere occupies an interesting position in Mopar history. It was the B-body that launched the muscle car era, with Chrysler offering the 426 Street Wedge and eventually the race-ready 426 Hemi in Belvedere bodies through 1965. This particular sedan runs the 361 cubic inch V8, a genuine big-block displacement paired with the legendary push-button TorqueFlite automatic and backed by the coveted 8 3/4 Mopar rear axle, the strongest and most desirable rear end of the mid-1960s Mopar B-body lineup. For Mopar enthusiasts, that combination of engine, transmission, and rear axle is the real specification that matters.
The exterior has been deliberately treated to a patina look, with oxidised paint sealed under a 2-pack clear coat for a weathered, characterful appearance. This is an intentional aesthetic choice, not neglect. The red paint holds good colour depth across all panels with the intentional surface variation consistent with the patina treatment. Body panels are straight with one disclosed dent on the passenger side rear quarter panel. The aftermarket chrome wire-spoke wheels with whitewall tyres add to the car's individual character. An original dealer badge from East Colfax Chrysler-Plymouth of Denver, Colorado remains on the rear, providing provenance from the vehicle's original US home state. Chrome trim is largely intact.
The interior is the standout. It is fully red throughout, with bright red vinyl on the bench seats (front and rear), all four door cards, dash pad, and headliner. The front bench seat is in excellent condition for a car of this age, with minimal wear and no tears. The door cards are original, all four in good condition with period chrome hardware. The dashboard retains the original push-button TorqueFlite selector, one of the most iconic Chrysler engineering features of the era, positioned to the left of the column-mounted gear indicator. The original Plymouth Transaudio AM radio is present. The odometer reads 74,900 miles but is non-operational and should be verified at inspection.
Mechanically this Belvedere carries the 361ci V8 backed by the 8 3/4 rear axle, a solid mechanical platform with good parts availability. Vendor advises this model was the first of its kind to race at Lakeside Raceway. The column automatic shift provides straightforward operation. Overall condition is consistent with a driver-quality classic that has been maintained and presented with care.
