Overview

A Carved Wooden Wall Mask Featuring Elaborate Dot-Painted Decoration Across The Forehead, Nose Bridge And Cheek Areas. The Mask Is Carved From A Single Piece Of Dark-Stained Timber And Depicts A Stylised Face With Carved Almond-Shaped Eyes With Open Slits, A Prominent Nose And An Open Mouth. The Forehead Features A Large Central Star Or Mandala Motif Executed In Dot Painting Using Ochre, Cream, White And Deep Purple Tones. Flanking The Central Motif Are Geometric Diamond-Pattern Panels In Teal, Red, Pink And White Dot Work. The Cheek Areas Carry Matching Teal, Red And White Geometric Dot Patterns. The Nose Bridge Is Decorated With A Vertical Band Of Ochre Dots. White Dot Accents Highlight The Brow Line Above Each Eye.

The Verso Is Hollowed And Undecorated, Showing The Natural Timber Grain. A Purple String Hanging Loop Is Attached Near The Top Of The Verso.
