Provenance: Leslie Leonard Cross, Affectionately Known As Les, Was Born In Amritsar, India, On 4 November 1914. He Worked As An Aircraft Engineer Until 1975, When He Migrated To Australia And Spent The Second Half Of His Life Living In Williamstown With His Daughter, Corinne. Les Died In Melbourne, Australia, On 5 June 2011. Now, Corinne Has Donated Her Father’S Catalogue Of Over 60 Artworks To Wwf-Australia For Auction, To Raise Vital Funds To Support Wildlife And Wild Places In Australia And Internationally. This Support Felt Fitting, Given Les’S Particular Fascination And Adoration Of Gum Trees, A Prominent Motif Throughout His Artworks. Australian Gum Trees Are Vital To Wildlife. Famous For Being Both The Habitat And Food Source For Koalas, Gum Trees Also Produce Pollen And Nectar That Bees Take To Pollinate Other Plants, Fruits And Seeds For Bats And Birds To Eat, And Insects That Reptiles Feed On.
